This groundbreaking agreement marks the most significant transformation in Oscar broadcasting history, relocating Hollywood’s ultimate celebration from traditional network television to digital platforms with unprecedented global accessibility and comprehensive year-round content delivery.

The extensive partnership provides programming far exceeding traditional ceremony broadcasts. YouTube will deliver complete red carpet coverage, exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, Governors Ball access, the Governors Awards ceremony, nomination announcements, the nominees Luncheon, Student Academy Awards recognition, in-depth Academy member interviews, filmmaker conversations, film education programming, podcasts, and additional content designed to maintain sustained audience engagement with cinematic excellence and Academy initiatives throughout the entire calendar year.

The Academy’s leadership characterized this decision as strategically essential for their organization’s global mission. Bill Kramer and Lynette Howell Taylor emphasized that with 21% of voting members now residing outside the United States, worldwide digital distribution addresses their increasingly diverse constituency more effectively.
