Finnish President Alexander Stubb has commenced a two-day state visit to Luxembourg, with a focus on enhancing bilateral relations and addressing European issues. The visit began on Tuesday as Stubb, accompanied by his wife, received a ceremonial welcome with military honors outside the Grand Ducal Palace. This was followed by a meeting with Luxembourg’s Grand Ducal couple and a wreath-laying ceremony at the eternal flame to honor those who died in service.
Throughout the visit, President Stubb is scheduled to engage in discussions with Luxembourg’s President of the Chamber of Deputies Claude Wiseler, Prime Minister Luc Frieden, and Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel. These talks are expected to center on strengthening bilateral ties and exploring current European affairs.
The itinerary also includes visits to significant European institutions, such as the European Investment Bank and the European Court of Justice, highlighting the cooperation between Finland and Luxembourg within these organizations.
On Wednesday, President Stubb plans to visit the University of Luxembourg’s Belval campus and the SES headquarters in Betzdorf. These visits underscore the importance of academic and economic collaboration between the two countries.
