Giorgia Meloni’s government has reached 1,024 days in office, making it the fourth longest-serving administration in Italy’s republican history. It has now surpassed the duration of Matteo Renzi’s government and continues to move up the rankings.
The current record is held by Silvio Berlusconi’s second government, which lasted 1,412 days. Ahead of Meloni are also Berlusconi’s fourth government and Bettino Craxi’s first administration.
Meloni has set her sights on becoming the first Italian prime minister to serve a full five-year term, which would run until October 2027. If political stability continues, she is projected to surpass Berlusconi’s record for the longest-serving prime minister on September 4 next year.
