President Sergio Mattarella has stressed the need for “peacemakers and community builders” to guide societies through complex global challenges. In a public message, he urged people to embrace coexistence, solidarity, and participation as the foundations of a humane and resilient civilization.
He warned that freedom, democracy, peace, and the social model cannot be taken for granted, emphasizing that each generation must work to regenerate and uphold these values. According to him, safeguarding these principles requires commitment, courage, and collective responsibility.
Mattarella also called on citizens not to be overcome by fear or disengagement, noting that indifference weakens communities. “Building means moving forward with history, even if it requires crossing difficult terrain,” he said, highlighting the importance of resilience in the face of uncertainty.
