Amodei acknowledges the substantial benefits AI could offer humanity but warns that commercial competition might drive companies to prioritize speedy advancements over safety. He emphasizes the growing risk of recursive self-improvement, where AI systems could potentially enhance their capabilities at a rate that outpaces the understanding and control of researchers.
