Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met South Korean President Lee Jae Myung in Seoul, marking the final stop of her six-day tour of Asia, which also included visits to Oman and Japan.
During their meeting, the two leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation between Italy and South Korea, with a focus on advanced industries. Key areas identified for deeper collaboration included artificial intelligence, industrial automation, energy transition, the circular economy, infrastructure and transportation, as well as the aerospace, automotive, and bio-industry sectors.
The visit underscored a renewed push to expand bilateral ties, with Meloni becoming the first Italian prime minister to visit South Korea in 19 years. Following the meeting, she departed Seoul to return to Rome, concluding her Asia tour.
