In the aftermath of a decapitation strike in Yemen, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is claiming a major victory, while the Houthi movement swears vengeance. Netanyahu called the killing of the Houthi prime minister a “fatal blow,” but the conflict is now set to intensify.

The Israeli leader stated the attack was “just the beginning” of a campaign to eliminate the Houthi leadership, a direct response to their missile attacks and Red Sea disruptions, which the group links to the Gaza war.

The operation was a remarkable feat of long-range military action, but its success was partial. The Houthi chief of staff, the main target, was not killed, leaving the group’s military leadership intact to plan its promised revenge.

The Houthis’ vow of retaliation was swift and defiant, setting the stage for a new and dangerous chapter in the conflict. Experts believe that while the strike has disrupted the group, it has also strengthened its resolve to continue its fight against Israel.
