International representatives are advocating for immediate engagement to maintain the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program. The advocacy reflects the approaching termination of key frameworks with core objectives still unachieved.

The nuclear agreement established in 2015 aimed to guarantee peaceful nuclear development but has faced significant implementation difficulties throughout its existence. The agreement’s effectiveness was severely compromised when a major participant withdrew in 2018, fundamentally altering the structure of international cooperation and oversight mechanisms.

Diplomatic efforts have accelerated significantly as stakeholders recognize the urgency of the October 2025 expiration date. Multiple rounds of bilateral negotiations, conducted through regional mediators, have attempted to resolve fundamental concerns but have yet to produce the progress necessary for ensuring exclusively peaceful nuclear activities.

Military escalation between regional powers has created additional complications for diplomatic progress, with strikes on nuclear infrastructure and military installations. The newly announced ceasefire offers a crucial opportunity for renewed focus on diplomatic solutions rather than military confrontation.
